Scholarship and Research Support
A two-year scholarship including a 350 Euro monthly stipend and funds for research will be provided by WASCAL to each of the students selected for the program.
The following are the criteria for sustaining WASCAL students’ scholarship:
Basically, students after admission will be required to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of B in each semester.
During the third semester, students will be required to develop a detailed research program, including budget, that will have to be accepted by his/her advisor committee, consisting of three (3) graduate faculty members, and endorsed by the Graduate Council.
During the project/research stage, students are expected to present their progress reports regularly to their principal advisor and be evaluated accordingly.
Target Group
The primary targets of this Program are young and promising graduates with very good First Degree, who will form the much required human capacity to ensure West Africa has ample young scientist to participate in activities that would help safeguard the future of the region in the fight against climate change. The very best of the regional applicants, ten (10) of them, will be sponsored by Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany through WASCAL/ZEF. It is expected that these very best students will eventually continue for PhD studies.
Qualified candidates from government institutions, international organizations (e.g. the UN), non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector may also apply..
