3rd ZEF – WASCAL – PAUWES WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY IN AFRICA

The opening ceremony of the 3rd ZEF-WASCAL-PAUWES workshop was held in the Wascal building in Niamey on 25th September 2019.

The ceremony started at 10.30 am with the welcoming speech of the director of the WASCAL institute Professor Rabani A. followed by an introduction of the WASCAL staff and professors, and also the participants composed by 10 students from PAUWES Algeria, 10 students from WAC-SRT in Niamey and 3 students from ITT in Germany who are currently doing a project in Niger. Before the tea break where the students could taste some local food and refresh, some official group pictures were taken in front of the Wascal building. Then, the Wascal assistant gave a brief overview about the entire program which will be composed by not only theoretical study but also practical and field trip.

In the afternoon, we had a workshop research methodology for Master’s Project Proposal writing with the Prof. Rabani Adamou. It allowed us to know the importance of Master thesis proposal and the steps for writing it. Indeed, we have learnt about the stages of Development of Master’s project proposal and the standard format composed by abstract, proposal and time plan. We also learnt about the administrative steps to follow from submitting the proposal until the thesis defense. Then, Prof. Rabani gave the outline of a research proposal and then, explained in details each thesis research proposal key points which are the introduction, the problem statement, the objectives, the research question, the hypothesis, the methodology and finally the milestones, timeline and budget.

It was an interesting and participative course for the participants since all of us are preparing our master thesis. From this workshop, each student was required to find a topic for his master thesis, apply the methodology which was taught and present his research proposal on 3rd October.
